Is M tag necessary on Motorway ? Effective immediately, the NHMP has declared the tag mandatory for all vehicles on motorways. After December 31, 2023, driving without a tag will result in fines while travelling in your own car on the Pakistan Motorway.
The move aims to ease the perpetual lines at toll plazas, ultimately reducing traffic congestion and minimizing air pollution.
Right now there are 2 types of counter lines on the toll plaza
1) Cars with balance on M-tag .
2) Cars without balance on M-tag.
So to avoid any inconvenience it is suggested that car owner must get themselves registered and get a M tag issued and get it pasted on your motor vehicle front wind screen before 1st January 2024.
How to register for issuance of M-Tag ?
You can register for the M tag using following procedures ;-
- Visit any nearest motorway toll plaza with your vehicle.
- Show your CNIC.
- Show the proof that you are the owner of your car by providing your car ownership documents or have applied for your vehicle registration if it’s new and not registered yet.
- Your valid Mobile Number.
